Free Software from Bruce Perens
- A complete street map of the United States in digital form, originally
prepared by the U.S. Census. Note that this is 2.6 Gigabytes in size
if you download all states! Please download the manual and read
it first, so that you don't make frivilous use of my FTP site for something
this big. This is now available from the Census' own site, as once I put my
copy up for FTP, they had no more reason not to distribute it themselves.
You can also get it from my site
.
- Electric Fence
, my malloc() debugger for Linux and Unix. This will stop your program
on the exact instruction that overruns or under-runs a malloc()
buffer.
- BusyBox, my set of tiny Unix
utilities. This project has been taken over by Erik Andersen, and
now is part of almost all commercial embedded Linux offerings. It's useful
for making a rescue disk or any very small Linux or Unix system. Use Keith
Almquist's ash for the shell (that's a very tiny Bourne shell).
- I had a lot to do with the development of the Debian GNU/Linux
distribution. Here's their web site and
their main FTP site.
- Using the Gyration Media Center Remote on Linux
