You have probably noticed that the major purpose of this site is to promote myself. But not really. It's to promote my activities on various topics that I feel strongly about. But how is that any different? Anyway, a lot of people find "blowing your own horn" to be an obnoxious activity. So, why do I still do it?
I do feel very strongly about many topics. And I want to be listened to, especially by people who are in a position to make changes. I've found that I can get politicians, corporate officers, and other folks to take my phone calls and accept appointments with me because they've heard of me. Being well-known means that I can get people to listen who might otherwise not have the time. That's important.
It's not about ego. Really. If it was ego, I'd be telling you about my awesome... oh, never mind.
It's about being able to effect political change. Hopefully, you feel the same way I do about some of the issues that I'm working on. And hopefully you'll acknowledge that I am better able to effect change on those issues by using my notoriety as a tool. So, I hope that I'll have your support in doing that.
One thing I am not, however, is an approval-seeker. If I feel good about myself, that's enough. So, the purpose of this site is not to make you think I'm cool - that's just not important to me. I'm much more excited about getting you to think about some of the topics I work on. I think it's especially cool when you help me work on them.
Thanks
Bruce
